Panchamrit Abhishek Puja is a sacred Hindu ritual performed for Lord Shiva, in which the holy Shivling is bathed with five divine substances while Vedic mantras are chanted. The word Panchamrit is derived from Pancha (five) and Amrit (nectar), symbolizing spiritual purity and divine nourishment. At the revered Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, performing Panchamrit Abhishek is considered highly auspicious and spiritually beneficial.
Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees (Yajman). The Shivling is bathed with water, milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar along with mantra chanting. Aarti is performed by the temple pandit. The puja concludes with prayers and blessings.
