About Jal Abhishek Puja

Jal Abhishek Puja is a sacred Shaivite ritual in which Jal ( water) is offered to the divine Shivling of Lord Lingaraj. In Hindu tradition, Jal (water) is considered extremely pure and spiritually powerful, making it an essential element in Shiva worship. This also includes Pushp (Flowers) offering to the Shivling. Flowers symbolize devotion, purity, reverence, and divine love, and their offering is believed to please Lord Shiva and invoke His blessings. At the Lingaraj Temple, this Abhishek is performed strictly according to Vedic rituals by authorized temple pandits.

Puja Procedure

Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees (Yajman).
Jal Abhishek is performed on the Shivling with chanting of sacred mantras.
Pushp Abhishek is done with Vedic hymns.
