Dudh Abhishek Puja is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva, where the Shivlinga is ceremonially bathed with pure milk through a gentle and continuous flow using traditional brass vessels. Throughout the ritual, experienced priests chant powerful Shiva mantras, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere within the temple. Performing Dudh Abhishek at the revered Lingaraj Temple is considered highly auspicious. Devotees believe that this holy offering invokes divine blessings, removes negative energies, and brings peace, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Milk symbolizes purity, nourishment, and devotion in Shaivite worship. Offering milk to Lord Shiva during Abhishek signifies surrender, gratitude, and the seeker’s desire for divine grace.
The ritual begins with Sankalp, taken in the names of the devotees. The authorized Panditji then performs mantra chanting as per Vedic traditions. Devotees participate by offering milk to the Shivlinga. Milk is offered during the Abhishek, accompanied by sacred chants and rituals. After which devotees seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
